I wouldn't look too hard - it was very, very bad. Although it did have
pretty pictures. At least, that was the 1991 version - I don't know what
later versions were like. If that fails, you could give RDPrep a try -
it's on Aminet, and I'm pretty sure it lets you set reselection in the
RDB.

Hi Rick
After reading some mails from people who had tried the sight I bit the
bullet and went to the site it worked fine, except you can't get in because
of the JScript. I talked to him about it and he said it didn't sound like
the same site , so he is going to mail me the url and I will try again.

I have official commodore documentation for the autoconfig protocol. When=
you hold down 2, presumably the Blizzard card goes into "shut-up" mode (=
thats what it is actually called, btw.) Thus a hard reset is needed to us=

If you're talking about standard BT local call rates, then it costs:
For 1 hour Monday-Friday 8:00-18:00 - =A32.40
For 1 hour Monday-Friday before 8:00 & after 18:00 - =A30.90
For 1 hour Weekend (midnight Friday - midnight Sunday) - =A30.60
Some ISPs also have special offers, such as offering 0800 (free) calls at
certain times. And you can get some discounts from BT.

Rumours are just that. Start getting worried when there are cold, hard

Ahhh, you've not been following this thread well have you? My problem is
with a CD drive, not a hard drive. FastPrefs was of no use either (it was
on the A4008 installation disk) as that is hard drive only ...

I'm not too sure about that, I know it was touted around for some time, but
I never had any problems using a 2.5" hard-disk in the A600 I've got here.

Why not just use the A2000? Seriously....you're better off with it than an
A600.

Secure? If they put it on a ROM, it'd be a Flash ROM (like the existing PPC
cards) to make updates to the emulator possible....if they do that, what's
to stop someone writing a virus to wipe the ROM? It's not like it hasn't
been done before, think of all those PC owners who found themselves with
unusable motherboards after the chernobal (I think?) virus.

Probably be best to just emulate an 030, afaik it's the closest code-wise to
an 020....except for an 020 :)

Nah...calling it an 070 would cause no end of problems, but with all the
different versions of programs, you do need to know which one to use.

Well I've never heard of an A600 without 2.05. Did 2.04 even have the

Yes that's a possiblity. However, if it's securely protected then nothing
but a specific updater will be able to edit it. And why have a FlashROM,
if they get it right first time? ;-)

It would have to start the whole CPU card, which is done in the autoconfig
stage of the boot cycle=2E No autoconfig, no way of running the G4 card=2E=
=20
Have software in sys:Expansion and kick it off with a Binddrivers command?=

No way hos=E9, cos you can't run ANYTHING (eg 68k emulation) on the G4 card

it, you can't introduce it to the system=2E
Therefore Autoconfig is the ONLY way, the m/b 020 cannot be used as you

I think the point he was making was that it really doesn't matter what
you call the instruction set that the G4 is emulating, it just needs to be
a generic 68k emulator, capable of running programs compiled for any
variation of 68k processor, be it 68000, 68030+68882, 68060 or
whatever.

Oktagon 2008 SCSI Card - 40
Picasso II Graphics Card - 35
Picollo SD 64 Graphics Card - 75

Zorro Scandoubler/Flickerfixer - 65
16Mb Ram - 35

My subscription copy had no sellotape at all - the CD was wedged in the
pages. In fact, it's never been sellotaped ever before. I hope I get my

See through it? I can see through it in the same way as you could see
through those eclipse glasses (which I doubted but worked very well).
Seriously now, I can just about (ie - make out lightbulbs and car
headlights) and my hifi reads it, as does the 32x on my Amiga and the
(ridiculous) 48x on my PC.

Of course, it always helps if people can buy the
hardware required to run the game in the first place.
Though I would love to buy a copy of Wipeout, the
chances of me getting a PPC card are virtually nil,
and the chances of me getting a BVision are similar,
because no-one makes the damned things any more
(except the BVision, for the pedantic).

Hi
ok this is driving me mad. I have an index file which has the line:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"
src="js/gif.js"></script>
Now this should call a script called gif.js in a drawer called js right?
This file contains the following:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
<!--
urlgif = location.href.split('.html);
urlpng = url1.join('_png.html');
if (navigator.useragent.indexof('amiga') > -1 location.replace(urlpng);
if (navigator.useragent.indexof ('mozilla/4') == 0)
location.replace(urlpng);
version = navigator.appversion.split(' ');
if (version[0] >= 5) location.replace (urlpng);
// -->
</script>
This script should make the index.html file change to index_png.html which
then links to all the whatever_png.html files in my page. but none of the 3
browsers do it :/ in fact V is the only one which does the rollover images
:p Im using this code to preload the images:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript1.1">
<!--
function PreloadImages()
{
ImageNames = new Array('main','art','links','amiga');
ImagePath = '../pics/';
StdExt = '.png';
SelExt = '2.png';
TempImage = new Image;
for (var i = 0; i < ImageNames.length;i++)
{
TempImage.src = ImagePath + ImageNames[i] + StdExt;
TempImage.src = ImagePath + ImageNames[i] + SelExt;
}
}
// -->
</script>
Then each image has code similar to this:
<TD><a href="main_png.html" target="view"
onMouseOver="document.main.src='../pics/main2.png';
window.status='Return to the main menu'; return true"
onMouseOut="document.main.src='../pics/main.png'; window.status='Love';
return true">
<img src="../pics/main.png" name="main" alt="Main" border=0></a></TD>
Can anyone help me?

According to the Eyetech website, the most common
motherboard in England was the 1d1. I've opened up 4
1200s now, and 2 have been 1d4s, and the other two
have been 2bs. Damn!
Does anyone have a 1d1? Or are they purely mythical?

Put a jumper on the card that disables writing to the ROM, and ship it

Assuming the 2000 ROMs contain the scsi.device for the 600, yes. You'll

Early ones came with 37.299 - it didn't have the IDE drivers, but I'm not
sure about PCMCIA support. According to
http://www.gregdonner.org/workbench/wb_205.html it didn't.

Hiya
I'm sure you're all leaping at the chance to read my monthly review of the
mag, so here goes!
First impression was good, I particularly liked the "Grateway" on the sign -
how apt! I also like the contents page for some reason, just a shame about
all those pics of Ben on those fake fifties ;-) Moving on, we find a
picture of Ben looking like a Gremlin, and a pic of Simon Archer looking
uncannily like Paul Heaton (!)
Flicking further on, we find good taste in music on page 16 and a man on
page 22 who seems to have mistaken his PC for a guitar. Some very nice
looking previews in Screen Play too. Another good instalment in the
JavaScript tutorial, top marks for Neil. And as for the drop in pages?
Hardly noticeable - well done guys!
Lovely job

I removed the Ariadne, and all worked as normal, so I decided to stick the
Ariadne before the IOBlix, and this cured the problem. So it appears as
though the IOBlix still has autoconfig problems.

Mine was loose, so no problem at all.
The mag looks great as usual, proper binding or no. I experienced a brief
moment of confusion when I saw the "Amiga Sold" cover, then realised that I
already knew this. :)
Just managed to flip through and see my AFB contribution (fame at last!)
before Dad swiped it (as usual).
Hurrah for the absence of the jewel case! Now, if you could just print one
each for all the previous CDs, I could save heaps of storage space... ;)

I'm not sure about A600's, but 3.5" hd's fit in an A1200 fine, and A60=

Hi Everyone,
Just thought you would find this interesting.
I recently advertised in the local 'Trade it' newspaper for people
to join a new 'Amiga Usergroup' here in Stroud, Glos.
I have had a few phone calls since then and the reponce hasn't been too
bad. I had one person who wanted to know where he could sell his
fathers Amiga (he had unfortunately died) and the other was
interested in joining.
The point is that both of these people didn't even know that the Amiga
was still about let alone that there are two great magazine being
published. I had to point out that they would have to go into WHSmiths
to get a copy. Hopefully we will have a new member in our community
and another subscription to AF.
This made me realise that we really do need to have magazines on the
shelf
and therefor I am willing to pay the extra and purchase mine that way
and
keep them on the shelves. Subscription is a good idea if you want to
save
money and secure sales but it doesn't help improve sales.
Advertise the Amiga. Get people to know that it is still here. Do
something silly like advertising for people to join a local usergroup
in the 'free' papers. It's worth the trouble (in my experience) and it
will add more sales for AF.
Regards,
Nick.
P.S: If you live near Stroud/Glos then contact me if you want to join.

But why would you want MUI for any other reason than to be able to run
the software that uses it? It's no more of a bummer than having to buy
OS3.5 if you want to run software that uses its features...

Just a cheeky post for some help.
I have had 'Fireteam 2000' and 'KGB' in a box for a few years but

These are original games but I didn't get the codes when I bought them

TBH, I don`t (ATM) need an integrated suite, not that I`d not use it. My real need is for the Spreadsheet, but at 20-25 the rest
could be classed as freebies :-)
I don`t suppose you have a website we can keep an eye on? The suite would maybe benefit from one when it`s released.

Today we have been mainly discussing the music from the early 90s release
of Defender 2 (by Jeff Minter) and why Winamp is great. And why Final
Fantasy 8 is not.
The fact that we managed to maintain a coherent discussion for longer than
30 seconds without either degrading into running in-jokes or flooding the
channel with crap is probably a new record.
